Chanderi silk

Chanderi silk, a traditional Indian mix of real cocoon silk with airy cotton, was love at first sight. It has the royal shimmer of silk and the breathable texture of cotton - so pleasant for the skin! The fabric is completely natural and extremely light, it feels like you are wearing nothing. Historically it was made from Chinese silk and Indian soft cotton in a small town called Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. This textile was used for making special embroidered wedding saris. We mainly use plain chanderi but also order hand-embroidered chanderi from Varanasi to decorate our gorgeous kimonos.
