Layered mulmul

Mulmul cotton was once called "wonder gossamer" or "woven wind". Since ancient times it was a very special treasure from the area of Bengal, that fascinated Europe for more than 1000 years. Even ancient Greeks talked about this airy light and transparent fabric, that folds gorgeously. In fact, it is made not from normal cotton, but from a “cotton tree” plant so that the thread is more fragile and soft. During the XVIII century “dacca muslin” as this fabric was called then, became popular with royalties.
